From the beginning, we want to understand what
your goals and intentions are for the project. You don't have to have
all the answers; we will work with you to understand your needs and
come up with a design that meets them.
We
will draft a pattern for the quilt, and create a full-color scale drawing
of the quilt design for your review and approval. This drawing will
give you a good idea of what the quilt will look like when it is finished.
There may be several drafts of the design as it is tweaked and modified
to your specifications.
We pride ourselves on using
100% cotton fabrics for our quilts. You always have the
option to choose other types of fabrics (such as satin, velvet, decorator
fabric) or provide your own to be used in your quilt.
Our battings may contain
up to 30% poly fibers to add durability and strength to the quilt.
Other battings such as wool, cashmere, or 100% polyester can
be substituted at your request. Please note that we do not pre-shrink
our batting, and as a result your finished quilt may shrink 3-5% after
the first washing. This will give your quilt a desirable "antique"
look, and is not considered a defect.
You will get an estimated price at the beginning of the design phase,
and a firm price at the end of the design phase, at which point a 25%
down payment will be required to begin work.
Our pricing & delivery
schedule is set on a project-by-project basis. However, there
is a standard price list for typical sizes and styles. Prices can vary
based on the size, fabrics, appliqués or other embellishments.
Depending on our project queue at the time of your
order, your quilt may take 4 - 20 weeks to complete. We can expedite
a quilt in most cases to meet a target date if needed.
You will always get a ballpark figure for budgeting
purposes during the design phase, and a firm price before we begin work.
Once
you have given final approval of the quilt design, you can follow the
progress of your custom quilt (including photos & special commentary
from the artist) on our Blog.
Your project name will be listed in the left menu.
Depending on the size of the quilt, it may be difficult
to take full size photographs during construction. In those cases, we
will take photographs of key areas. We try to provide at least one full-size
photograph before the actual quilting begins.
