Private Instruction

Can't find a local quilting or sewing class that fits your schedule? LoveBug Studios can help! Enjoy private instruction in the art of sewing and machine quilting, in the privacy of your own home. Private instruction is offered at $20/hour, with each lesson running 2-3 hours. There are 3 levels of instruction and a refresher course which takes you through each step of the process. By the end of your lessons, you will have completed your very own quilt!

Level I: The Basics (Two 2-3 hour sessions)

• Understanding Your Sewing Machine
• Caring for Your Sewing Machine
• Fabric Selection & Preparation (including Color Theory)
• Basic Quilting Tools and their Use
• Introduction to Rotary Cutting
• Preparing Your Machine for Quilting

Level II: Piecing a Quilt Top (Two 2-3 hour sessions)

• Reading a Quilting Pattern
• Cutting and Layout
• Piecing Techniques
• Intermediate Quilting Tools and their Use
• The Importance of Pressing

Level III: Finishing the Quilt (Three 2-3 hour sessions)

• Applying Borders & Squaring the Quilt
• Layering & Basting
• Machine Quilting Techniques
• Binding and Finishing

Quilt Refresher (2 hour minimum)

• Go at your own pace
• Cover the topics you want to cover
• Get assistance with a challenging project

It is expected that in between lessons you complete some work on your own, such as assembling additional blocks. Get your friends together for group instruction at a discounted rate! Payment is due in full on the day of the lesson.
