Quilt Restoration & Repair

Do you have a well-loved quilt that has been damaged with use and is showing signs of wear? LoveBug Studios can help you repair those shredded blocks and minor tears. By repairing the quilt at the earliest signs of damage, you can enjoy the quilt longer. If fabric needs to be replaced, we will find the closest match possible in color, fiber content, and weight. Restorations are done completely by hand, and are charged by the hour; you will need to send the quilt for evaluation, or photographs of the damaged areas so that we can provide a quotation.

If your quilt has extensive fiber disintegration, water stains or evidence of mildew, or is a historically-significant antique, we recommend that you send the quilt to a textile expert who has been trained in preservation & cleaning techniques. Your local Historical Society or Art Museum should have resources in-house or referrals for this type of work.

Never store your quilt in plastic or vinyl, as this promotes mold & mildew growth. Do not store your quilt in areas of extreme temperature or humidity (such as an attic or basement) as this will accelerate the breakdown of fibers in your quilt.
