Future Badger – Finished Quilt
Here is the finished quilt! I didn’t take a photo of the back since it’s pretty much a solid background of the Badger fabric. That’s all folks!
Future Badger – Quilting
I’ve chosen to use a number of techniques for quilting. Around the letters and the “Motion W”, I have chosen outline and echo quilting: In the borders, I chose a geometric design that also repeats, and flowers in the corners: In the plain blocks, I quilted in the “Motion W” to echo the central motif: That’s all folks!

Future Badger – Piecing & Assembly
Most of the larger pieces have been cut, and the letters are printed for the appliqué. The letters get printed in paper in reverse, traced to a fusible sheet, adhered to the fabric, and then cut out. It’s a fairly time-consuming process, but it produces the most consistent results for me. Once the letters are cut out from the fusible fabric I create, they get spaced and then fused to the background fabric. Afterwards, the letters are satin-stitched to give the edge a crisp finish. Here, most of the appliqué is complete and just waiting for the “Motion W” to be finished. That’s all folks!
Future Badger – Design Part 2
After client review, I switched out some of the fabrics to give a truer rendering of the design when the Badger fabric is incorporated. Also, the client suggested sticking to just basketball and football, as the client does not like soccer. This is the design the client approved. That’s all folks!
Future Badger – Design
This design centers around the colors of UW-Madison and the popular sports one can play at the college level. The center “W” is an applique, as are the words “Future Badger”. LAYOUT OPTION #1: LAYOUT OPTION #2: The back of the quilt will be a UW Badger print. Unfortunately it’s not available in Illinois, so I have to drive to Wisconsin to get it! That’s all folks!

Project Description: This project is for a baby of a UW-Madison alum. Finished Size: 36″ x 46″ Fabric Selection: Fabric chosen is various sports themes centered around University of Wisconsin – Madison sports. The client suggested a quilt based on UW-Madison. That’s all folks!
