Space Bears – Finished Quilt
Finished! The quilt is complete, and is inspected for damage, forgotten pins, stray threads, etc. The back of the quilt is fairly simple, but the tumbling space bears are adorable! The quilt features a custom printed label with the name of the recipient hand-lettered. This particular project marks the end of an era – I have outsourced my label printing, and all future bed type quilts will feature a consistent fiber content label, a “Made in the USA” label, and care instructions. These labels will be sewn into the binding on the back of the quilt, rather than bonded to the quilt. I may continue printing labels for art quilts. All packaged up and ready to go! That’s all folks!
Space Bears – Binding
The border has been applied in this photo, and the quilt has been trimmed & is ready for binding. I always use double fold French binding – it uses more fabric but produces a more durable quilt that will withstand many washings. That’s all folks!
Space Bears – Piecing & Basting
The color scheme is still the same, but once the actual fabrics were laid out, I found the more pleasing color scheme used the yellow squares in the corners, and the white nearest the center. In this photo, the quilt top has been assembled (minus the borders), pin basted, and all the ribbon quilting has been completed. That’s all folks!
Space Bears – Fabric Selection
Here is the actual fabric which will be used for this project. That’s all folks!
Space Bears – Design
This is the color scheme for the quilt, which pulls some of the accent colors from the bear fabric. That’s all folks!
Space Bears – First Project Meeting
Project Description: This is a baby quilt for a boy. Finished Size: 36″ x 45″ (approx.) Fabric Selection: Colors inspired by a blue fabric printed with astronautical bears in space suits & ships. Really cute! Customer wanted a quilt similar to Pastel Ribbons in colors appropriate for a boy. Customer was presented with several fabric options and chose the one with the bears to be the backing fabric. (My first choice too!)That’s all folks!
